The sustainability initiatives

Iben thrives and is in continuous process of working with sustainable fibres. We take into consideration our suppliers and factories, down to the materials we select and work with.

Organic cotton is generally defined as cotton that is grown organically in subtropical areas, from non-genetically modified plants and without the use of any synthetic agricultural chemicals such as fertilizers or pesticides. Instead, it combines tradition, innovation and science to benefit the shared environment and promote good quality of life for all involved. Our Boi series, including the Boi Tee, is made of 100% organic cotton. As well as reducing the carbon footprint, using organic materials in the Boi Tee creates a slightly vintage look due to its natural faded colour.

In addition to using organic cotton, we are taking an active part in the Better Cotton Initiative (BCI). Better cotton is not organic, but the BCI focuses on improving the working environment and the rights of the workers in the cotton industry. One of the four goals of the BCI is to improve livelihood and economic development in cotton producing areas. Among the products who are produced using Better Cotton is our Terrence Tomboy Jeans. These jeans are one of our bestselling products and we are proud to have produced it using materials that support the BCI.

By choosing organic cotton, cotton products marked with BCI or other sustainability stamps, you are taking an important part in making a difference.
